Formerly known as Kerr Construction, Inc., Huxted Tunneling was established in Florida in 1977, by Dwayne Huxted and a partner. The original focus was on Underground Utility Contracting. Soon after its inception, the company began gaining experience in trenchless procedures such as auger boring and installation of steel casing for utility projects and pump stations. Dwayne Huxted became sole owner in 1991 and expanded the company's capabilities to include pipe jacking, hand mined tunnels, and microtunneling. The dba name Huxted Tunneling was adopted in September 2001 due to confusion with other similarly named companies.

Dwayne Huxted, CEO of Huxted Tunneling has over thirty years of experience in heavy construction, underground utility construction, and all facets of boring and tunneling throughout the southeast. Company President, Steve Caneen, has over twenty-three years in the underground construction field, and has directly supervised the microtunneling installation of more than 100,000 feet of various types of pipe in all ground conditions. Huxted Tunneling has assembled a staff with many years of experience in areas including heavy construction, tunneling, jack and boring, pipe jacking, construction management, engineering, estimating, and business management. This wide range of knowledge allows us to offer assistance in pre-planning, budgeting, or design review for projects requiring our expertise.
Kerr Construction, Inc. dba Huxted Tunneling, is a State of Florida Certified Underground Utility Contractor (CU-CO49466), with equipment capable of accomplishing virtually all types of jack and bores, tunnels, or microtunnels from 8" to 120" in diameter, in any area. Since the majority of the projects have been located in Florida, Huxted Tunneling has developed significant expertise in very wet ground conditions. Huxted Tunneling is the first Florida Utility Contractor to successfully specialize in Microtunneling, and owns one of the largest fleets of equipment in the country. Our experience, equipment, and certifications, in addition to an excellent reputation in the field, allow us to bid and perform a wide range of projects. Huxted Tunneling is interested in both domestic and international endeavors.
